Union Minister opens �wellness� centre in Aizawl

AIZAWL, Sept 2 - Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel recently opened the Urban Primary Health & Wellness Centre (UPH&WC) at ITI locality here today. She was accompanied by Mizoram Health Minister Lal Thanzara.

Inaugurating the centre, Patel lauded the State Government for its healthcare scheme. She also said that the Centre is ready to extend help to the State Government in expanding health care scheme.

Patel also said that the government has introduced Ayushman Bharat Programme to undertake promotive and rehabilitative service to cover cancer, diabetes, heart disease and hypertension.

According to Patel, the Programme has two pillars � National Health Protection Mission and the other being conversion of 1.5 lakh Health Sub Centres, Primary Health Centres, and Urban Primary Health Centres into Health & Wellness Centres.

She said that under National Health Protection Mission, Rs 5 lakh insurance will be given to each family and it will cover 10.74 crore families based on socio-economic census.

In Mizoram, there are 20 sub centres, eight urban primary health centres and four rural primary health centres. Patel said that all the existing 32 sub centres and primary health centres in the State will be converted into Health & Wellness Centres under Ayushman Bharat Programme.
