Union Agriculture Minister meets AAU officials

GUWAHATI, June 17 - Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers� Welfare Radha Mohan Singh, along with Atul Bora, Minister of Agriculture, Government of Assam, and Dr T Mohapatra, secretary, DARE, and DG, ICAR, Government of India, held a meeting today with the Vice Chancellor of CAU, directors and scientists of KVKs, ICAR institutes, AAU and State Government officials including the APC, Commissioner & Secretary, Agriculture, Director of Agriculture, Government of Assam, at the Khanapara campus of the AAU.

During the meeting, the Union minister said that three new Agricultural Technology Application Research Institutes (ATARIs) were set up in the country last year.

The foundation stone of ATARI, Guwahati, was laid in February at Kahikuchi, Guwahati, by the minister. He also informed the gathering that three new KVKs namely, Baksa, Morigaon and Bongaigaon have also been established during the last two years in Assam, a press release stated.
