SILCHAR, May 4 - Reacting strongly against the killing of Palash Roy, an advocate-cum-leader of the Hindu Mahajot in Bangladesh inside the Dhaka jail recently, Dr Rajdeep Roy, managing trustee of NGO Bimalangshu Roy Foundation, has written to the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) demanding a thorough probe.

Sharing his thoughts with The Assam Tribune on Saturday, Dr Roy, who is also BJPs Silchar candidate for the Lok Sabha election said, Since Durga Puja of 2018, stray incidents of assault on the religious minorities of Bangladesh have been on the rise. I am astonished at the inaction of the Government of Bangladesh to clamp down on the incidents. My appeal to the UNHRC is to initiate a thorough probe into the incident when a person is allegedly burnt alive inside jail. A letter has been sent to the Government of India for talks with the Bangladesh Government in this regard, he added.
