NALBARI, Aug 22 - An undertrial Bikash Kalita reportedly committed suicide inside the bathroom of Nalbari jail early Tuesday morning. The security personnel of the jail found him hanging by the ceiling in the bathroom.
According to sources of the jail, the undertrial Kalita who hails from Jorhat district was arrested by Simala police station in Baksa district in a case (case no. 57/18) under Section 366 of IPC lodged by a girl. The girl alleged in the FIR that Bikash Kalita, a married man, tried to kidnap her. The Simala Police produced Kalita at Nalbari Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court on August 18 last which remanded him to Nalbari jail.
