Uncertainty over calling of applicants from Social Science subjects resolved

SILCHAR, July 12 - The uncertainty over calling of candidates from departments like Social Work, Mass Communication, Education and other Social Science subjects for viva-voce for the post of lecturer, District Resource Unit in DIET has now been resolved by the Assam Public Service Commission, said Prof Sajalendu Das Laskar, member APSC.

Talking to The Assam Tribune, Prof Das Laskar said, �After the issue of applicants not included in the list of interviewees was brought before the Commission by the Assam University, the Chairman APSC together with members of the Commission studied the matter and appraised the matter before the government. The matter has been resolved and the subjects have been included vide a new notification on June 21 and after scrutiny, the candidates shall be called for interview.�

Meanwhile, Subhashish Chakraborty, vice president of the Alumni Association of Social Work department of the varsity, has expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the APSC for taking prompt decision on the issue. �We had approached the APSC with an appeal for immediate rectification of the matter and we are happy that the Chairman of the APSC and the APSC member Sajalendu Das Laskar acted very promptly and discussed the matter with the government department concerned and finally the government decided to consider all the candidates with MA in Social Work for the interview,� Chakraborty said.

He also thanked Prof Dilip Chandra Nath, Vice Chancellor Assam University Silchar, and Dr Sanjib Bhattacharjee, registrar of the varsity, for taking up the matter with the APSC in the interest of the candidates.
