UNC receives invitation from MHA for tripartite talk

By Newmai News

IMPHAL, March 18 - United Naga Council (UNC) has received a written invitation this evening from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for a tripartite talk involving Manipur Government, UNC and Government of India representatives. The talks will be held over the new district creation issue which triggered the indefinite economic blockade since November 1 last year.

UNC sources said that the talks will be held on March 19, at Senapati district headquarters.

Meanwhile, the new BJP-led coalition government in Manipur hopes of ending the economic blockade imposed by UNC on National Highways and is set to hold fresh talks with the agitating Naga body on Sunday. The ensuing meeting over the blockade will be the first litmus test for the BJP Government.

Tripartite talks were earlier held over the district creation issue, which had ended without any major breakthrough. From the side of the State Government, Additional Chief Secretary Dr Suresh Babu and Commissioner (Works) K Radhakumar are likely to take part in the tripartite talks.
