SENAPATI, June 14 - Even as the economic blockade is under way in tribal areas, the United Naga Council (UNC) has announced today to impose a 24-hour total shutdown in Naga areas of Manipur from the intervening night of June 17 and 18.

The UNC took this decision in a meeting today to show its resentment against the continuous suppression, subjugation and discrimination by the Government of Manipur agai-nst Naga tribals. The shutdown is also to demand early conclusion of the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM. The UNC urged the Government of India to exhibit political will and solve the Naga issue at the earliest.
