IMPHAL, Aug 22 - A top leader of militant outfit United Socialist Revolutionary Army (USRA) was today shot dead by unidentified persons in Churachandpur district, the police said.
Lalminthang Vaiphei, self-styled commander-in-chief of USRA, was shot dead in front of the zonal education office in Churachandpur town, they said.
The motive behind killing the USRA leader is not known, the police said, adding that a case has been filed at the Churachandpur Police Station for further investigation.
Vaiphei�s body was sent to the Churachandpur District Hospital for post-mortem, they added. � PTI
