SILCHAR, June 5 - In a major catch, Cachar Police arrested a suspected cadre of the Hmar People�s Convention (HPC) and recovered a huge consignment of arms and ammunition on Tuesday.
According to Cachar SP Mughdhajyoti Dev Mahanta, based on secret information, SDPO Lakhipur along with 37 Assam Rifles conducted an operation at Hmarkhalien under Lakhipur constituency and apprehended a suspected HPC-President cadre identified as Lalbia Kung (26) and recovered one AK-56 rifle, one MK 34 rifle, 53 rounds of 7.55mm, 10 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition.
Cachar SP informed that interrogation is in progress.
