ULFA 'vice chairman' appeals for positive approach

SIBSAGAR, Mar 5 (PTI): ULFA 'vice chairman' Pradip Gogoi today appealed to the people of Assam to adopt a positive frame of mind for ensuring a negotiated settlement of the long-drawn conflict in the state.

Gogoi, who arrived to a rousing welcome to his Baksu Mauthgaon home here following his release from Guwahati Central Jail after 12 years yesterday, said he would exchange views and ideas with the people of the state and take the peace process forward.

The release of Mithinga Daimary, ULFA's 'publicity secretary' on February 25 and Gogoi are being viewed as a step to facilitate the peace process.

Gogoi also concurred that their release was a step in the "right direction and other leaders like 'general 'secretary' Anup Chetia should also be brought back from Bangladesh.
