JORHAT, Aug 12 � Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, Jorhat police detected the blueprint of a bomb blast in Jorhat and arrested an ULFA cadre, Lachit Das from the town last night.
When contacted, Jorhat SP Sanyukta Parashar told this correspondent that following secret information Jorhat police started operation in search of the ULFA member Lachit Das who was assigned by the outfit to carry out a bomb blast in Jorhat town ahead of the ensuing Independence Day.
Following confessions by the arrested Lachit, another ULFA member Arup Konwar was arrested from Sonari in Sivasagar district last night. Arup was supposed to hand over a grenade to Lachit. Police recovered a China-made bottle grenade from the possession of Arup.
