IMPHAL, June 3 � Following torching of the house of a former minister in Senapati district by unidentified miscreants on June 1-2 night, an angry mob set afire three vehicles of Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar in Ukhrul district headquarter late last night.
The Ukhrul headquarters witnessed public outrage late last night as hundreds of denizens in the town, 84 km north of Imphal, came out to protest against the alleged high-handedness of security forces, sources said. The 72-hour bandh called by Tangkhul organisations was under way and when the volunteers enforcing the bandh were allegedly picked and roughed up by the Indian Reserve Battalion personnel.
