UK research projects awarded to DU faculties

DIBRUGARH, March 2 - In a major achievement, three faculty members from Dibrugarh University have been awarded with research projects for the year 2018 by the UK India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI).

The project proposals submitted by three faculty members of Dibrugarh University - Professor Subrata B Gogoi of the Department of Petroleum Technology, Professor Ajanta B Rajkonwar, Dean, School of Commerce and Management Sciences and Dr Debajit Borah, Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics are among the faculties awarded the projects this year, a release stated.

The UKIERI 2018 received 138 proposals from across the country. The project partner under this project from the UK is from the University of Edinburgh (EoU). The concerned faculty members and research scholars under the project from both the universities shall be working at UOE and DU.

UKIERI was started in April 2006 with the aim of enhancing educational links between India and the UK. It has been recognised as a key multi stakeholder programme that has strengthened educational relations between the two countries. UKIERI is funded from the UK by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Foreign and Commonwealth Office, British Council, Scottish Government, Walsh Government and the Department of Economy from India by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the UGC and the All India Council for Technical Education, the release added.
