UK poet to perform in city

GUWAHATI, Sept 22 - The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT-Guwahati, and the British Council will present a programme of UK performance poet Aisling Fahey, who is also the Young Poet Laureate for London, here on September 26.

She will perform in the Bhupen Hazarika Auditorium at IIT-Guwahati from 5.30 to 6.30 pm. Fahey has performed at various locations across England, America and Ireland, including the Barbican, the Houses of Parliament and Glastonbury. She earlier won the London Teenage Senior Slam and SLAMbassadors UK run in association with The Poetry Society.

She is a member of the Burn After Reading collective and Barbican Young Poets and is currently the Young Poet Laureate for London.

Fahey has appeared on numerous radio shows and had television appearances, such as Front Row on BBC Radio 4, The Robert Elms show on BBC London and ITV London Tonight.
