UDP MLA Nongsiej sworn in as minister

SHILLONG, Sept 19 - United Democratic Party (UDP) MLA from Mawthadraishan, H Brolding Nongsiej, has been inducted as a minister in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government. Nongsiej was administered the oath of office by Governor Tathagata Roy at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh, other Cabinet ministers and senior officials.

The newly-inducted minister has won twice from the Mawthadraishan constituency. He was inducted into the Cabinet following Metbah Lyngdoh�s resignation. Lyngdoh, who was the Water Resources, Home Guards and Civil Defence Minister, has been elected as the Speaker of the Meghalaya Assembly.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the coalition would decide on the portfolio to be allotted to Nongseij.
