UDALGURI, March 27 - Four boxers from Udalguri won gold medal in the East Zone Sub -junior (boys and girls) Boxing Championship, organised by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) at Golaghat from March 24 to 27.
Saya Brahma (42 kg), Hiranya Boro (50 kg), Lovely Daimari (30kg) and Errika Basumatary (46 kg) were the gold medal winning boxers who are trainees of Dhaneswar Basumatary Boxing Training Centre. Basumatary was the coach-cum-manager of the team.
Assam clinched 4 gold, 10 silver and 4 bronze medals in the meet where 80 boxers of different weight categories from Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal and Sikkim took part. Lovely Daimari was adjudged the best boxer of the championship.
