Udalguri admin ready for April 18 poll

KALAIGAON, April 13 - Udalguri district administration is ready for holding the second phase of LS polls under Mangaldai HPC on April 18.

The administration has taken all steps for holding the LS poll peacefully in the district under the supervision of three ECI Observers namely, JM Pathania (General Observer), Susheel Kumar Katiyar (Expenditure Observer) and Shankar Jiwal (Police Observer).

Talking to this correspondent, Dilip Kumar Das, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer, Udalguri said that all steps have been taken to ensure conduct of the LS polls peacefully in three Assembly segments in the district, namely, 64 Paneri, 69 Udalguri (ST) and 70 Mazbat LAC.

According to him, third and final rounds of training to 2842 designated presiding and polling officials (718 presiding, first, second and third polling officials each) had been completed which was held at Udalguri College. The mapping of persons with disability and NOTA have also been completed successfully.

Preparations of EVM and VVPAT and training of issue and dispatch of materials too have been completed in the district. 487 vehicles have been arranged to be used in the poll process in the district. In this regard, it has been informed to the media that all the vehicles used by Zonal and Sector Officials will be fitted with GPS devices to be monitored centrally from the Control Room at Udalguri.

Final training of 11 Zonal and 74 Sector Officials was completed on April 10 at Udalguri. Deputy Commissioner Das also confirmed that 46 polling stations (10 in Paneri, 11 in Udalguri and 25 in Mazbat LACs) have been identified as Critical Polling Stations and will be supervised by Micro Observers of ECI. Steps also had been taken to facilitate persons with disability to come to the polling stations. Vehicles with wheelchairs and volunteers will assist such persons with disability. There will be seven all woman polling stations in the district (three in Paneri, two in Udalguri and two in Mazbat LACs).
