GUWAHATI, Aug 16 - Uber cab drivers of Guwahati staged a strike on various demands at the Uber office here on Thursday. Around 200 drivers took part in the protest.
The Uber drivers operating in the city have been demanding monthly incentives, extra bonus for overtime, freezing of enrolment of new vehicles, reduction of commission to be paid to Uber from 26 per cent to 10 per cent, fixing of the minimum fare at Rs 100, resumption of all suspended accounts of cab owners, and a welfare scheme for all cab drivers. Later this evening, they withdrew their protest when the police administration assured them of holding a tripartite meeting shortly among the drivers, Uber officials and the State Transport Department, according to Ismail Ali, president of the All Assam Cab Operators� Union.
