NAGAON, May 23 - Within 24 hours, two more people from the district who arrived from outside the State and were being quarantined at Bratadrova Sankardeva College and in a hotel at Azara in Kamrup respectively, tested COVID 19 positive.
According to sources, Nazibur Hussain (22), who reached at Chapormukh railway station on May 18 from Chennai and quarantined at Bratadrova Sankardeva College tested positive on Friday night last. The district medical surveillance teams immediately shifted him to Nagaon Swahid Bhugeswari Phookonani Civil Hospital for further treatment as the hospital had been already promoted to a COVID-19 hospital on Friday itself.
Sources said that his swab sample was collected on May 19 last at Nehrubali field and, thereafter, it was sent to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for confirmation. JMCH laboratory late Friday evening confirmed his infection with COVID-19.
Meanwhile, GMCH laboratory also confirmed another youth from the district with COVID-19 positive, who was being quarantined at a Azara-based hotel in Kamrup. Jubeir Hussain of Nagaon Rupahihat area, arrived recently from outside the State and his swab sample was collected at Sarusajai stadium.
