Two-wheelers roped in for home delivery of goods at Dimapur

DIMAPUR, March 28 - Two-wheelers are likely to begin delivering essential commodities to residents here soon in the face of the ongoing national lockdown due to the COVID-19 threat. People are facing a hard time in getting essential commodities due to the lockdown.

On Saturday, the Dimapur Municipal Council gave the nod to the Two Wheeler Taxi Association, Dimapur, for door-to-door delivery of essential commodities in and around Dimapur. The two wheelers will deliver vegetables, grocery items and fruits under the jurisdiction of the Dimapur Municipal Council.

Meanwhile, a Dimapur Municipal Council notification said that the two wheeler operators must follow the guidelines on COVID-19 issued by the Health Department of the Nagaland Government.

The notification also warned that those people delivering goods must not hike prices of commodities.The permit holders should not overcharge for the goods and follow the approved market rates, it added. The delivery charges should not exceed Rs 50, the notification stated.

Those delivering the goods are also bound to follow other directives passed either by the Dimapur Municipal Corporation, the Central and State governments.

The Dimapur Municipal Council reserves the right to cancel the permits in the event of the above terms not being followed or due to any other dispute.
