Two test virus-positive in Udalguri district

UDALGURI, May 24 - Two migrants in Udalguri district who are presently undergoing treatment at MMCH and TMCH have been found COVID-19 positive.

They were identified as Soleman Ali of Ekrabari village and Bhagirathi Bhumij (village not known).

Reports available indicated that Soleman Ali came from Kolkata recently and was quarantined at Sarusajai in Guwahati while Bhagirathi Bhumij came with her family from Haryana and was quarantined at Tezpur University quarantine facility where she was diagnosed COVID-19 positive and subsequently shifted to the TMCH.

Meanwhile, the District Disaster Management Authority of Udalguri district informed that the district administration is ready to handle the situation with its resources like one COVID-19 hospital with 41 beds, five dedicated coronavirus health centres with 60 beds, and 15 virus care centres with 517 beds.

The everyday collection of blood and swabs is also going on smoothly and till May 23, a total of 1,065 samples were collected and tested, of which 678 proved negative and the results of the rest 387 are still awaited, the DDMA report informed.
