Two Shishu Sarothi students felicitated

GUWAHATI, July 5 � �Where there is a will, there is a way.� This has been proved by many and once again students like Jai Prakash Sharma and Madhurjya Saikia have shown to the world what determination can achieve.

Both Jai Prakash Sharma and Madhurjya Saikia are former students of Shishu Sarothi. They were admitted to the Shishu Sarothi at the age of nine months. They have celebral palsy, particularly of spastic diplegia, a condition in which the motor speed in writing is slow in comparison to the regular children�s writing speed.

Shishu Sarothi nurtured them with the basic knowledge of learning. The first-hand knowledge provided by Shishu Sarothi facilitated them to opt for mainstream education. The dedication and will power towards education helped both Jai Prakash and Madhurjya achieve good results in the HSLC exam which is an important juncture in every student�s life. Jai Prakash secured 2nd division with 52.6% and Madhurjya Saikia secured first division with letter marks in English, Assamese and Social Science.

Acknowledging their achievements, Shishu Sarothi felicitated both Jaiprakash and Madhurjya.

Arman Ali, executive director, Shishu Sarothi rendered the introductory speech congratulating them and wishing them good luck for their better future.

The students shared their opinion followed by the opinion of their parents. They stated, �The results were unsatisfactory and we shall work hard and put more effort towards better performance�.

With a desire to go for higher studies, Jai Prakash Sharma has enrolled himself in B Borooah College in the Arts stream. On the other hand, Madhurjya Saikia has opted for Commerce as his stream in Vinayak Academy, Jagiroad.

Jai Prakash has a keen interest in writing poems, and wants to be a journalist/writer while Madhurjya is an ardent fan of football and tennis. Their success made their parents smile through all the hardships that their condition entails.

Students like Jai Prakash and Madhurjya have paved a path towards new scales of contentment and appreciation. Their success reaffirms the belief that joys in life can be found when one least expects it.
