Two sentenced to 20 years RI each for raping minor

JORHAT, Oct 30 - The Jorhat District and Sessions Judge VK Chandak in the capacity of Special Judge today sentenced two youths to 20 years rigorous imprisonment each after convicting the duo of raping a minor last year.

The accused identified as Padum Nayak alias Bikash and Sunil Tanti alias Pipa of Itabheta Line of Meleng Tea Estate under Teok Police Station, were also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 each by the judge.

The duo committed the crime in the afternoon of May 28, 2017 in their locality.

The judge also directed the secretary of the District Legal Services, J�rhat, to adequately fix the amount of compensation to be paid to the victim and make the payment towards her rehabilitation.

Altogether, six witnesses were examined in the court during the trial of the case and advocate Muhidh�r Dutta was public prosecutor in the case.
