Two senior UNLNF leaders held in city

GUWAHATI, Sept 8 � Two senior leaders of UNLNF were today apprehended by the City Police from Noonmati area.

The arrested leaders include the deputy organizing secretary self-styled Lt Col Ningombam Dilip Singh alias Ibochou alias Moni (47) and self-styled Captain Jatishor Singh Ctelemba.

Both are the residents of Imphal, police sources said.

Police recovered two laptops, eight cell phones, five SIM cards, three internet data card, a SBI ATM card with bank status of over Rs 3.5 lakh, a Panasonic handycam, two digital cameras and cash Rs 3.65 lakh from their possession.

Sources informed that the militant leaders are taking shelter in Guwahati for the last few days and the raid was conducted based on a tip-off.

NFR embarks on energy saving drive

Guwahati, Sept 8 � The Northeast Frontier Railway has started using the Internet and mobile phone technology GSM-based system for running water pumps to save power. It has also distributed energy saving bulbs among its employees, reports PTI.

The pumps have been attached with a GSM-based unit and these could be switched on or off through the Internet from any part of the world either directly or on a scheduled programme.

The NF Railway has also distributed 1.5 lakh compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs among its employees.
