Two railway staff awarded

GUWAHATI, April 7 - Two railway staff, Arjun Routh, technician/grade-II and Vivek Kumar, helper, who are working under the carriage and wagon department at New Jalpaiguri, were awarded by Sanjive Roy, General Manager of NF Railway, for showing exceptional alertness and devotion towards their duty, at a programme held at Maligaon here on Friday, stated a press release today.

While on duty during the evening shift at the New Jalpaiguri goods yard, these two railway staff detected some defects in a wagon of a goods train which was loaded with food grains and bound for Haibargaon. They immediately informed the engineer who was the in-charge of that yard. The wagon was properly checked and found to be unfit to run due to defects noticed.

In recognition of their meritorious service for preventing accidents, both of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs 2,000 each along with a certificate by the General Manager, NF Railway.
