Two more from Barak Valley test COVID-19 positive

SILCHAR, May 18 - Two more persons from Barak Valley tested COVID-19 positive on Monday.

According to sources, one person from Kajidahar part II area under Sonai constituency of Cachar district has a travel history of visiting West Bengal while the other person reportedly from Akbapur in Karimganj district has a travel history of visiting Uttar Pradesh. Their first swab samples were collected at the ISBT on May 16 and 17 respectively. Sources in the District Health Department informed that both passengers were kept under institutional quarantine.

Now with the addition of two more cases the increased tally of COVID-19 positive cases in Cachar district has become 13 and 3 are from Karimganj so far.

Meanwhile, Cachar ADC Sumit Sattawan has clarified that while hotel Centre Palace in which the Chennai-returned positive patient from Lakhipur constituency was found COVID-19 positive has been turned into a containment zone and its boundaries touching hotel Divyam in the North, hotel Swagat in the south, Arun Kumar Chanda Market complex in the west and till the point the contained hotel touches Central Road, has been barricaded. The two other hotels mentioned herein have been kept as quarantine centres for the period, he added.
