TEZPUR, Nov 6 - Tezpur University has been granted two more chairs.
In memory of the invaluable contributions made by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi to ethics, the Indian Council of Philosophical Research has instituted the �Mahatma Gandhi Chair in Ethics� at Tezpur University. The chair would conduct a wide range of activities including research in ethics, short-term courses for teachers and researchers, publishing research papers and articles etc. The chair will be fully funded by the Council for an initial period of three years which is extendable.
The university will also have �Industry Chair� sponsored by Vinati Organics Ltd., a chemicals company with its headquarters in Mumbai for conducting research in chemical sciences and industry-academia interface. An MoU has already been inked in this regard and process of appointing chair professors for both chairs has already begun.
