Two labourers die

GUWAHATI, May 12 - A team of the State Disaster Response Force and Fire and Emergency Service department on Sunday rescued two labourers � Sahjamal Ali (26) and Rahim Ali (25) � from a ring well at Nayanpur locality here. They were immediately sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital where they later died. The rescue team recovered them in a critical condition.

According to a statement issued by the Fire and Emergency Service, the incident took place when the duo accidentally were trapped in its bottom while digging the well, which was around 70 feet deep. They were part of a team of five labourers engaged by a man named Devakanta Haloi to dig the well.

The labourers were trapped inside the ring well and suffered from lack of oxygen, as they failed to come out, the statement added.
