Two Jorhat students to participate in NCSC

JORHAT, Oct 20 - Two students of Jorhat Balya Bhaban and Cinnamara Higher Secondary School brought accolades to the entire district as their innovative scientific projects were selected for presentation in the 24th National Children Science Congress (NCSC)-2016, which is scheduled to be held from December 27 to 31 this year in Maharashtra.

District co-ordinator of NCSC-2016 Budhin Dutta said that Prudam Priyasanga Gogoi of Balya Bhavan and Debojit Gogoi of Cinnamara Higher Secondary School showed outstanding talents in scientific innovation through their two projects which are purely related to the theme of innovation for sustainable development. Pradum�s innovative project gives a solution to reduce artificial flood while Debojit�s innovation provides machinery solutions to use the wastes of cane industry profitably.

�I hope this year also Jorhat projects will be selected as the outstanding projects of scientific innovation in the national-level competition of NCSC-2016,� said Debojit�s project guide and well-known innovator of Jorhat Bhagaban Barua.

�Besides, our district has been rewarded by the State-level organising committee of NCSC for being the best academic district in the State. The district souvenir, namely, Anweshan has been adjudged the best in the selection,� said district co-ordinator Dutta. Along with many scientists, teachers of various academic institutions, president of Jorhat district Children Science Congress Dr Paran Barua also applauded the efforts of the students.

With the support of teachers of various academic institutions of the district, workers of district-level science society, Aryabhatta Vigyan Kendra, curator and other staff of Jorhat Science Centre and Planetarium have been showing exemplary instances of popularising science across the rural and urban pockets of the district to attract the young minds for scientific thinking.
