TIHU, March 8 - At a time when Dispur is giving a lot of attention for the development of the State, the Makhibaha-Haribhanga-Kaithalkuchi PWD Road connecting Nalbari and the Haldhibari-Lochima PWD Road connecting Patacharkuchi remain in dilapidated condition.

Annoyed with the apathy of the department concerned and the local political leaders towards the maintenance of these two important roads, the general public of the area have expressed their strong resentment.

Both these roads are now in pathetic conditions, replete with large potholes, broken parts. Walking and plying on these two roads can be dangerous for pedestrians as well as vehicles. These two roads have not been repaired during the last 10 years.

It may be mentioned here that two portions of the Makhibaha-Haribhanga-Kaithalkuchi PWD Road at Haribhanga and Bali were badly damaged by floodwaters, two years ago. Despite the availability of funds under the FDR Scheme, the Nalbari district administration has failed to undertake any repair work of this key road.

Local people allege that Barama LAC MLA Maneswar Brahma has never taken any initiative to undertake repair work for this road.

On the other hand, no repair work has been undertaken for a long time for the Haldhibari-Lochima PWD Road.

The people of the area urged the local MLA to take steps to repair these two roads before the arrival of monsoon.
