Two IEDs recovered

By Correspondent

TURA, Sept 14 - South Garo Hills police yesterday recovered two powerful IEDs suspected to have been left behind by fleeing cadres of the Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) after their encounter with the security forces recently.

The IEDs, which were later diffused by the police bomb squad this morning, had been left behind by the militants and were recovered after sources pointed to their location.

The militants could have used the IEDs to carry out subversive activities, SGH police chief, Abraham T Sangma observed. Police on Sunday encountered a group of cadres who were allegedly taking shelters in a forest area . While fleeing, they left behind an AK rifle and IEDs.
