TURA, June 11 - Two more members of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) surrendered before the police in Williamnagar in East Garo Hills district recently.
The duo had joined GNLA as recruits and underwent training in firing of pistols and rifles, use of hand grenades and bombs. They were staying with other GNLA militants in the general camp of GNLA when Meghalaya police laid a siege.
The two managed to escape and were on the run before contacting joint secretary of UDP, Arun N Marak and their relatives who helped them to surrender recently.
The two militants said they led a very difficult life in the jungle and there was always a constant fear of attack. They also expressed happiness to come overground. The two GNLA cadres surrendered without arms.
