GUWAHATI, Dec 14 - Unidentified miscreants attacked two girls while they were sleeping in their house at Bakulban Housing Colony, Sijubari today.
Both the cousins were injured and were being treated at the hospital.
The victims have been identified as Jasmina Ahmed and Nilufa Ahmed.
A police source said that the incident occurred at the house number 12 of the housing colony at around 3:15 am.
�According to the initial reports, the door was not closed properly last night and the miscreants got a chance to enter the room. The miscreants hit the girls on the forehead and fled from the spot,� the source said.
�However, nothing was stolen from the house. There might be different angles in this case. The main reason behind the attack will be known after a detailed inquiry,� the source added.
A case was registered at the Hatigaon police station and the investigation is under way.
