Two-day college principals� meet from July 6

GUWAHATI, June 24 - Various academic and administrative issues related to institutions of higher education will be deliberated during a two-day UGC-sponsored College Principals� Meeting beginning July 6.

The meeting � being organised in association with the Assam College Principals� Council (ACPC) � will highlight the new assessment and accreditation procedures of NAAC, funding through Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), academic-administrative-financial and green audit, skill development programmes and developing employability skills of students, GST, gross enrolment ratio, equity and gender issues and value addition to curriculum, semester system, evaluation, choice-based-credit-system (CBCS) etc.

Organised by the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), Gauhati University, the meet was earlier scheduled to be held on July 2 and 3.

Eminent scholars, vice-chancellors, renowned educationists and senior Government officials are expected to attend the occasion.

Prof Vinod Kumar Jain, Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University, has consented to be the chief guest in the inaugural session. Prof Lingaraj Gandhi, Registrar of Bangalore Central University, will deliver the keynote address, while Dr Ganesh Hedge, Deputy Advisor in the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), will also be present.

AK Baruah, former senior finance and accounts officer, will also be present, besides a host of invited dignitaries and resource persons in three technical sessions.

Prof Jogen Chandra Kalita, Director of HRD Centre, Gauhati University, said all participants need to confirm their participation by June 30.
