Two arrested in acid attack case

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Oct 9 - Two persons were arrested by Lakhimpur police over an incident of acid attack in Pathali Pahar on the Assam-Arunachal border in Lakhimpur district last evening.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon in Pathali Pahar area under Banderdewa Police Outpost in Lakhimpur. One Papau Bora, threw acid on two girl students of Sankardev College of Pathali Pahar near the railway crossing. The injured students were rushed to North Lakhimpur Hospital. Later, they were shifted to Guwahati for better treatment.

Following the incident, students of Sankardev College blocked the NH-15 for several hours demanding immediate arrest of the culprit and punishment. Meanwhile, the police arrested the accused Papu Bora and the driver of the vehicle Debajit Pathak from a hideout of Arunachal Pradesh.
