DHEMAJI, May 12 - Two persons have been arrested by the police on charges of violation of quarantine rule in Jonai circle in Dhemaji district on Sunday.

Police said that two brothers namely Bikash Borah (25) and Dipankar Borah (20) of Lachit Nagar under Jonai Police station were set for home quarantine as they had recently returned to their home from other districts.

Police said the duo disobeyed quarantine rules and were roaming freely, challenging the local administration. They also obstructed and applied force to deter an executive magistrate from discharging his duties in this regard.

Jonai Police following the Health departments report arrested them from their residence on Sunday and remanded them to judicial custody. A case (no. 41/2020) under sections- 269/270/188/353/34 IPC has been registered in Jonai PS against the duo.

According to information available, the accused after being arrested, filed a bail petition through an advocate for their release, but the Sub divisional Judicial Magistrate of Jonai after hearing both sides finally rejected their bail petition and forwarded them to Dhemaji District Jail on Sunday.

The Judicial Magistrate in the order directed the district administration for quarantining the accused persons with proper vigilance and medical checkup in a separate accommodation in the district jail. Thus, Dhemaji district administration has been ordered to make necessary arrangements for 14-day quarantining (till 24-5-2020) for the two duo accused and also to produce them before the court after the end of the period.
