Two Army officers from Assam nominated for Sena Medal

MANGALDAI, Feb 2 - Two worthy sons of Assam while rendering their sincere and dedicated services to the Nation wearing the �Olive Green� have been nominated for prestigious �Sena Medal� for their individual acts of exceptions in performing duties or showing courage which have special significance for the Army. They are Lieutenant Colonel Raj Kumar Pallab Gohain originally commissioned in the Gorkha Rifles now serving in Rashtriya Rifles and Captain Siddhartha Das of Parachute Regiment (SF) � one of the elite regiments of Indian Army. This was stated in a notification issued by Union Ministry of Defence. This good news came for the people of Assam following another good news in the Republic Day celebration in New Delhi where the �tableau� of the State bagged the first prize.

Captain Siddhartha Das is the eldest son of Dilip Das, a lecturer in English and Krishna Das, Head of the Department of Economics both at MC College, Barpeta and a resident of Gandhi Nagar of Barpeta. Captain Siddhartha Das in 2007 got admitted to RIMC, Dehradun and joined the National Defence Academy in 2012 and successfully passed out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in 2015 only to choose his career in the Parachute Regiment (SF) of the Indian Army. His service with bravery in J&K for three years finally got the recognition with his nomination for the �Sena Medal�. His younger brother, Lieutenant Debanga Bhushan Das, has also joined the Indian Army in 2019 and has been commissioned in the Rajput Regiment.
