MANGALDAI, July 23 - The All Darrang Students� Union (ADDSU) has expelled its in-charge general secretary and its publicity secretary, who along with an assistant general secretary of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU), have reportedly been evading the law since the last one month. On the other hand, the Central Executive Committee of the AASU is likely to take a decision on its absconding office-bearer shortly.
While the absconding assistant general secretary is Manimoy Goswami, the expelled ADDSU office bearers are Mukut Bordoloi and Pabitra Pran Deka. In an emergent meeting of ADDSU held on July 21 at Mangaldai, a decision was taken to expel the duo.
It may be mentioned that on June 18 at about 6 pm, a group of ADDSU office bearers led by three allegedly physically tortured the branch manager of AGVB, Patharighat branch, Pratul Kumar Saikia (59) at Arjuntol village and then took him to the district office of ADDSU here, where they again beat him up mercilessly as he refused to sanction KCC loans as per their instructions.
The critically injured Pratul Kumar Saikia had to be admitted to the GMCH. On the next day, he lodged an FIR at the Mangaldai Police Station and accordingly police registered a case ( Mangaldai PS case No. 549/2015 under section 341/294/325/365/342/387/379/34 of the IPC. All the three have been absconding since then.
