GUWAHATI, Aug 4 � Acting on a case registered against News Live editor-in-chief Atanu Bhuyan, police has seized a laptop and a CPU belonging to Bhuyan and sent those to the State Forensic Laboratory, Guwahati, for investigation.
On the other hand, another case has been registered by police on the basis of a complaint made by Bhuyan.
An official statement from Assam Police said that the first case was registered by the All Assam Tai Ahom
Students� Union alleging that Bhuyan had posted derogatory remarks about the Ahom community on the popular social networking site, Facebook.
Notice has also been served under the CrPC through the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup, to the Facebook Security Department, 151 University Avenue Palo Alto CA 94301 for furnishing details pertaining to the Facebook account, date of the creation of the account, date of deactivating the account, etc.
�The IP-log of accessing the account can only be obtained from the Facebook server which is in California, US. It is to be mentioned that unless police have the IP log details, the actual place of creation of the account and the computer from which the account was accessed frequently cannot be known,� the statement said, adding that the police, however, seized the computer used by Bhuyan to find out the trail if he was accessing the so-called fake account from which the derogatory comments were passed.
