Tura trader abducted

TURA, Jan 5 - One Nanhelal Shah, a Tura-based businessman, who also handles transportation of FCI materials for Garo Hills, was abducted from near Gairong village under Krishnai PS in Goalpara district of Assam on January 1.

The trader, who has residences in Krishnai and Mendipathar in North Garo Hills, had gone to a friend�s house for a New Year party when he was picked up the kidnappers.

According to police sources, the abduction could be the handiwork of the ULFA.

A case has been registered in the Krishnai PS and coordinated rescue efforts are being made by the Assam Police and the Meghalaya Police.

His family members have not divulged anything on whether any contact has been made by the kidnappers, but Shah�s manager is in constant touch with the police.

�We have conducted numerous search operations to locate Shah. However, there is no breakthrough yet,� said Nitul Gogoi, SP of Goalpara.
