Tulsi plantation contest for Governor�s Award

DERGAON, Oct 12 - Preparation are on to hold the second All Assam Tulsi Plantation Contest for the Governor�s Award under a leading nature organisation AASHRAY, the nodal agency of Governor�s Award for Tulsi Plantation, on October 17.

The competition will be held in two stages. On October 17, the Tulsi saplings plantation will be held at the residences of the participants themselves, whereas the final stage i.e., viva-voice will be held at Dergaon centrally on October 22.

The participants will be shortlisted from among those who took part in the first stage i.e., on the evening of the day of Kati Bihu (on October 17) and they will be called for viva-voice on October 22. In the first stage, the judges authorised by AASHRAY will visit the participants residences in the evening on the day of Kati Bihu and judge the entire process for 100 marks. After shortlisting, more than twenty participants will be called for the viva-voice which will carry 50 marks. With the marks scored in both the stages the final merit list will be prepared. The top three participants will get the Governor�s Award namely Patanjali, Aryabhatta and Sushruta with cash prize of Rs 5000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively along with the certificate and citations. These will be presented by the Governor of Assam at a later date at the Raj Bhavan, Guwahati. The other seven participants will be awarded by AASHRAY and all the participants will get the certificate of participation.

It is pertinent to mention that AASHRAY was nominated as the nodal agency for organising the awards by the former Governor of Assam PB Acharyya in 2015 and the first awards were presented at a programme held at Raj Bhavan on October 27 last year.
