Tuliram Ronghang inaugurates series of new irrigation schemes

DIPHU, Aug 5 - Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) along with executive members of KAAC, principal secretary of KAAC and senior officials of the State Irrigation Department formally inaugurated a number of newly-constructed irrigation schemes here on Thursday.

The series of inauguration ceremonies was started since Wednesday at various locations under Diphu Legislative Assembly constituency. Besides, Ronghang took stock of the progress of work of the under-construction irrigation schemes.

According to official reports, a total of 124 irrigation schemes constructed under the AIBP scheme since 2013-14 and 2014-15, are nearing completion. Six irrigation schemes at various locations under Bakaliaghat Police Station like Patradisa, Tikaklangso Hantharlangso, Hidilangbe, Matikhala and Atigaon were officially inaugurated here on Wednesday.

Likewise, irrigation schemes constructed at Langparpan, Borjan, Disamaipur and Dissama under Manja Police Station were also inaugurated.

Further, a training hall-cum-guest house of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department constructed at the Cattle Demonstration Farm Complex at an estimated cost Rs 90 lakh was also inaugurated at Manja.

Meanwhile, inspecting the ongoing construction work of other proposed irrigation schemes, Tuliram Ronghang expressed satisfaction.

However, Ronghang told the mediapersons present that adequate funds were yet to be received from the Government against a few irrigation schemes. No irregularities have so far been detected during implementation of the said schemes, Ronghang added.

Meanwhile, the local farmers expressed satisfaction for constructing an irrigation scheme at Langparpan, Manja. The farmers were hopeful that now onwards they would be able to cultivate two paddy crops a year in place of the earlier one crop.

KAAC executive members comprising Mangol Sing Timung, D Uphing Maslai, Lanki Timung, Pradip Singnar, Pradi Dipusa, Bidya Sing Tokbi, chairman of KAAC, local MAC Kangjang Terang, Joysri Dawlagaphu, principal secretary and senior departmental officials were present during inspection of the under-construction irrigation schemes as well as series of formal inaugurations of newly-constructed irrigation schemes.
