Tuki discusses project with German officials

ITANAGAR, Oct 22 � Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Tuesday held detailed discussions with German Development Cooperation officials on a proposed project on Sustainable and Integrated Socio-economic Development Mission for Arunachal Pradesh to be taken up under bilateral cooperation programme through the Central Government.

The main objective of the mission is to attain vibrant and progressive rural Arunachal through a blend of agriculture and allied activities including environment and energy which forms the core of rural livelihood, a CMO statement said here today.

There was a general agreement about this project with comprehensive socio-economic development through interventions of geo-ecologically appropriate technologies with harnessing of natural resources, climate change adaptation and decentralized energy systems through renewable energy technologies.

Under this project it was also proposed to establish 1.77 lakhs units under animal and livestock sector including promotion of traditional rearing of �mithun� and �yak�.

Issues related to land use regulations, water policy, capacity building, use of local knowledge and entrepreneurship development also figured in the discussion.

The State land use board of Rural Works Department has prepared the comprehensive concept note and a detailed presentation was made by KC Dhimole, technical advisor.

The German Development Cooperation was represented by Heiko Warnken, Head of Economic Cooperation & Development, Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany, New Delhi, Dr Dieter Mutz, Director, Indo-German Environment Partnership, GIZ, New Delhi, Andreas Thermann, Deputy Director, KfW Bank, New Delhi and Farhad Vania, Portfolio Management Advisor, GIZ, New Delhi. � PTI
