JORABAT, Jan 23 - A truck (AS 01AA 9993) carrying straw caught fire at 13th Mile on NH-37 under Jorabat Police Station this morning while it was on its way to Jorabat from Sonapur.
Police and Fire Brigade personnel reached the spot soon after the locals informed them about the incident and brought the fire under control, but by then the truck was completely gutted.
The incident affected vehicular movement for about an hour on one side of the highway, compelling the Jorabat Traffic Police to open the other side of the highway for two-way movement of vehicles.
A police official said that the cause of the fire was being ascertained and an FIR has been registered in this regard.
