Truck driver killed in road mishap

NAGAON, Feb 7 - In a road mishap, the driver of a gas-laden truck was killed near Diju Basti at Amani in Nagaon district early morning today.

According to information, the incident occurred when the speeding truck -AS 26 (C) 5110 coming from Bongaigaon to Tinsukia rammed into a bridge on the NH 37and fell into a ditch.

Immediately after the incident, gas started emanating and created panic among the people residing in the area.

An experts� team of IOC/ ONGC rushed to the spot to prevent leakage of gas from the tanker.

According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Golap Sarma (30) of Jharkhand. An alert has been sounded.
