TURA, July 30 - A truck driver was kidnapped by a group of four armed militants near Rongthra village, about 15 kms from Baghamara around 9 am today.
The unidentified victim, who goes by the name of Bunty, is believed to be a resident of Assam. He was driving a truck ML 05 F 3787 when he was stopped near the village and taken at gun point.
Police suspect the kidnapping to be the handiwork of a group of criminals from Bangladesh with support provided by their Indian counterparts. The abducted driver has allegedly been taken to Bangladesh.
�We launched a rescue operation immediately after coming to know of the abduction. We suspect he may have been taken to Bangladesh�, said SP of South Garo Hills (SGH) Anand Mishra.
