Truck carrying betel nut seized in Dhubri district

DHUBRI, Feb 18 - Dhubri police on Sunday night seized a truck full of supari (betel nut) for allegedly carrying the item from West Bengal to Assam without paying any GST.

Police seized the truck at the Assam-Bengal border at Sagolia area and called the department concerned to collect the tax.

It was also informed by police that one Shubhankar Saha from West Bengal, paid a tax of Rs 2,40,800 for the supari loaded in the truck.

Through Sagolia area in the Assam-Bengal border under Dhubri district, trucks full of items enter the State reportedly without paying GST and these goods get distributed in other parts of the North East.

Police informed that they have encountered trucks carrying bogus e-way bills and fake invoices.
