Tripura�s COVID-19 death toll climbs to 144

AGARTALA, Sept 6 - Tripura reported 10 more COVID-19 deaths, taking its toll to 144 during the last 24 hours.The state also witnessed 603 new positive cases during the period causing concern for the common man. As of now, the state has 5,618 COVID-19 patients, while 123 were discharged from the hospital.

Sources said, critically ill COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment in the Dedicated Covid Treatment Centre are now facing severe hardships due to shortage of specialist doctors.

West Tripura district, of which state capital Agartala is a part, has accounted for 77 of the 144 COVID-19 deaths. A total of 2,97,103 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far.Meanwhile, the state government, in view of the surging coronavirus cases, has invited a team of doctors from Delhi to the state for reviewing the situation.

The Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) has constituted a team of fifteen specialist doctors for performing special rounds of duties for COVID ward where two hundred patients are admitted.
