AGARTALA, March 5 - With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, the Tripura United Indigenous Peoples Front (TUIPC), a common platform of tribal organisations of the State, will hold a rally at Khumulwng, the headquarters of the TTAADC.

The two-day rally is scheduled to be held with an inner session at the Nuraou Auditorium in Khumulwng on Wednesday. Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Pradyot Kishore Debbarman will be the chief guest in the rally. ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and TNV president Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl are also expected to attend the open session of the rally.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma has been invited to the open session as the guest of honour, along with MP Jitendra Chowdhury.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga and another minister from that State will join the rally to espouse the cause of the indigenous people.

Ananta Debbarma, president of the TUIPC, has sought cooperation from the State police and the public to make the rally a success. We hope the rally will prepare a road map for the TUIPC to protect the rights of the indigenous people, he said.

The rebel-turned-politician also appealed to political leaders of all parties to attend the rally to be held at the ADC Motor Stand on March 7. Debbarma said the TUIPC, an apolitical platform, has condemned the attack on CRPF jawans at Pulwama in Kashmir on February 14.
