AGARTALA, March 10 (PTI): The Tripura Government has said it would set up five police stations and seven outposts to provide security to rail passengers in areas near tracks.
"Though it is the responsibility of the Railway Ministry to provide safety and security to the passengers, but due to inadequate forces the Centre was unable to provide more forces to manage it effectively. So the state government has decided to set up five police stations and seven outposts in different locations," Chief Minister Manik Sarkar informed the state Assembly yesterday.
In the wake of recent incidents of burglary and snatching in trains in the State, the government has also decided to sanction 325 posts of security personnel, who will be deployed to ensure safety and security of the passengers, he said.
